Ineffective steps from city corporations worsening dengue surge
According to experts the prime breeding ground of Aedes mosquito, the carrier of dengue, belongs to the two city corporations of Dhaka and other governmental organisations.
This has resulted in experts questioning whether the steps being taken by authorities to curb dengue outbreak is logical.
Discarded tyres, vehicles left abandoned in streets and police stations, along with many places occupied by governmental offices are considered the prime breeding ground of Aedes larvae.
So, why have they not been cleaned before this year's dengue outbreak? Are the authorities doing enough to achieve a permanent solution to this problem? In Straight from Star Newsroom, Debjani Shyama is joined by The Daily Star reporter Sumon Ali to discuss the possible permanent solution to the recurrent dengue outbreaks in the country.
