Dr. Shamim Matin Chowdhury, chairman of Special Olympics, Bangladesh, has been selected as member of the Special Olympic Asia Pacific Leadership Council for 2015-17.

Chowdhury, one of the founders of Special Olympics, Bangladesh, has been the chairman of the organisation since 2008. She has arranged various sports training camps for intellectually challenged children to prepare them for the Special Olympics. She has also built a school for autistic and intellectually challenged children.
