Tabith demands win against India

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Tabith Awal emphasised on a win in the opener of AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers against India in a meeting with head coach Jaiver Cabrera on Tuesday ahead of the team's departure tomorrow for Saudi Arabia.

The charges of Cabrera, who are scheduled to go to Saudi Arabia this noon for a 11-day training camp before heading home on March 17, had their fourth training session at the Bashundhara Sports Complex as part of preparation for the Match 25 tie against India.

Ahead of the training session, Tabith and members of the national teams' committee (NTC) sat with the coaching staff including Cabrera, whom the BFF president assured of providing all facilities for a victory over India.

The BFF president though termed the meeting 'an introductory one,' national team manager Amer Khan said, "The president talked about the lackings of the team and asked the coach to prepare the team accordingly despite having limitations. The president wants a victory against India.

"The president also promised to provide facilities as much as possible to the team," Khan said, informing that Bangladesh are likely to play three practice matches including one against Sudan either on March 8 or 9 in Saudi Arabia.

Satyjit Das Rupu, a member of the NTC, said that Sheffield United midfielder Hamza Choudhury will have one training session in Dhaka after joining the team on March 18 as the team will fly out for India on March 20.

"Hamza is likely to come with 14 to 15 members including his family and the BFF president is looking after the matter. However, the team management don't want to allow Hamza's family members to stay with Hamza once he joins the camp," Rupu said.
