Sports adviser confident Hamza's first home match to be held at National Stadium

Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuyan has said that he does not see any issues hindering hosting Bangladesh's next match in the Asian Cup Qualifiers against Singapore at the National Stadium in Dhaka.
Bangladesh are scheduled to host Singapore on June 10 for their second match of the qualifying campaign, after having drawn 1-1 against India in Shillong on March 25.
The Bangladesh Football Federation officials had expressed their desire to host the match at the National Stadium and give the local crowd the opportunity to witness England-based Hamza Choudhury play for the Men in Red and Green at home for the very first time.
The National Stadium, formerly known as Bangabandhu National Stadium, has been undergoing renovation by the National Sports Council since August 2021.
The BFF has not yet been handed over the venue, resulting in hosting of domestic and international football matches at other venues across the country.
Speaking to reporters following an exhibition match involving underprivileged kids at the National Stadium marking the International Sports Day on Sunday, the sports adviser expressed his confidence that the match against Singapore could be played at the National Stadium.

"The work is almost complete. I have spoken to Tabith bhai (BFF president Tabith Awal). BFF will do some more work on the grass. The lighting and other works are also nearing completion. I have been informed that the field will be ready within a month. I do not see any problem in hosting the game" Asif Mahmud said.
The sports adviser's comments came a day after a BFF committee had reiterated its desire to host the match at the country's premier venue.
However, there are still works needed to be done regarding the dressing rooms and setting up a match commissioner's room in order to stage an international fixture of this magnitude.
BFF general secretary Emran Hossain told reporters that they will take over the work from tomorrow with a view to hosting the marquee fixture.
"We want to start the work on the pitch from tomorrow. We have also requested (national Sports Council) not to allocate the field to anyone else for the next one-and-a-half months. Hopefully, we will be able to complete the pitch and some of the other works within the stipulated time."
