Scholastica, Sir John Wilson win Dhaka's Rising Stars school football titles

Scholastica School's Mirpur branch and Sir John Wilson School shared the titles of Dhaka's Rising Stars, a new inter-school football tournament, winning their respective age-group finals at the Fortis Jalshiri Ground in Purbachal on Friday morning.

Sponsored by Prime Bank, a total of eight English-medium schools from the capital took part in the competition in two separate age groups -- Under-12 and Under-14.

In the final of Under-14 age-group which was a 70-minute affair, Scholastica Mirpur beat Sir John Wilson School 3-0, thanks to one goal from Ahnaf and a brace from Labib Hossain, who also scooped the top-scorer's award. Syed Mubin Ali of Scholastica was adjudged as the most valuable while : Shezaad Akbar Sobhaan was adjudged as the best goalkeeper.

Sir John Wilson School, however, had quick revenge as they beat Scholastica Mirpur in the final of the Under-12 age-group with a 3-1 victory. Nusayeb Arowan scored twice while the other goal was scored by Swakreto Swadesh, who also won the golden boot.  Arowan scooped the player of the tournament award.

Later, Bangladesh Football Federation's president Tabith Awal handed over the prizes among the winners where BFF's senior vice-president Imrul Hasan, vice-president Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, vice-president Fahad Karim, general secretary Emran Hossain Tushar and representatives from sponsors Prime Bank were present.
