Lewandowski one short of 100 after Dortmund demolition

Robert Lewandowski reminded the world exactly why he's still one of the deadliest forwards in football, as his brace helped Barcelona cruise to a commanding 4-0 first-leg victory over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

The Polish striker delivered a performance full of fire, finesse, and leadership—netting twice against his former club and pushing his tally to 40 goals for the season and 99 in total for Barcelona.

"I think we played very well but we have one more game to go," Lewandowski said after the emphatic win at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys. "Four goals at home... We always want to play our football and we want to play it there and we will win. That's always our objective."

Barcelona's second-half display was nothing short of electric. After Raphinha broke the deadlock, Lewandowski added two goals before teenage sensation Lamine Yamal capped off the rout. The trio continues to flourish, becoming one of the most feared attacking forces in Europe.

"Me, Lamine or Rapha, we score for the club," Lewandowski said. "We always want to play together. We have a lot of great potential in this team."

With the brace, Lewandowski inches closer to a major personal milestone. "99 Barca goals, 40 on the season," he said with a smile. "I am very happy. In my head, I always have not just to win but to help the team with my qualities, goals. I think strikers always have to think about goals."

But the night wasn't just about the attack. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick praised the team's collective effort, particularly the defensive solidity that kept Dortmund at bay.

"(Lewandowski, Yamal and Raphinha) are brilliant and very important for us," Flick said, "but so is our defence and those who come in from the bench. At this point of the season, with this schedule, it's so important that we keep all the legs fresh. So the team's depth is key."

With momentum on their side and their striker in red-hot form, Barcelona now heads to Germany for the second leg with confidence—and the roar of a fanbase that believes this could be the year they reclaim Europe's biggest prize.
