Sunzamul, Salman star on Day 2

Barishal Division's Salman Hossain Emon played an unbeaten 152-run knock against Dhaka Metropolis at the Sylhet Academy Ground on the second day of the 23rd National Cricket League's fifth round yesterday.

Salman, resuming on 47, struck 15 boundaries and a maximum and stitched a 135-run partnership with his opening partner and skipper Fazle Mahmud Rabbi, who scored 73, as Barishal declared their innings at 348 runs for nine wickets. Dhaka Metro will resume today's play at 34 for 1.

The other match in Sylhet saw Chattogram Division failing to capitalise on Nayeem Hasan's fifer on the first day as a six-wicket haul from Rajshahi's Sunzamul Islam bundled Chattogram out for 119 runs in 51.2 overs. Rajshahi chalked up 232 runs off five wickets, riding on wicket-keeper Pritom Kumar's unbeaten 85. The Tier-1 matches of Round 5 in BKSP, previously postponed from bad weather, got underway on Day Two as Dhaka Division scored 115 for four against Rangpur Division.

Dhaka's opener Abdul Mazid scored 47 runs. Elsewhere, Khulna Division's restricted Sylhet Division to 132 runs for eight wickets, courtesy of Al Amin Hossain's four-wicket haul.
