On a warm Tuesday evening at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, a new name carved itself into Indian Premier League (IPL) folklore—Priyansh Arya. 

The 24-year-old dynamo from Delhi unleashed one of the most electrifying innings in the tournament's history, scoring a blistering 103 off just 42 balls for Punjab Kings against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). 

In doing so, he not only became the fastest uncapped player to score a century in IPL history but also cemented his place as one of the most exciting young talents in Indian cricket.

Arya's century came off just 39 balls, making it the second-fastest century by an Indian in IPL, behind Yusuf Pathan's 37-ball marvel in 2010. His fearless innings, decorated with 7 boundaries and 9 towering sixes, showcased a rare blend of power, timing, and temperament under pressure. 

With this knock, he also became the joint fourth-fastest centurion in IPL history and the second-fastest for Punjab Kings, trailing only David Miller's iconic 38-ball hundred in 2013.
"The feeling is out of this world. I am happy but I want to contribute more for the team. This is my way (of batting)," said Priyansh, named Player of the Match.

Born on January 18, 2001, in Delhi, Arya's story is one of talent meeting tenacity. The son of schoolteachers, education and discipline formed the bedrock of his upbringing. At the tender age of seven, Arya began his cricketing journey under the watchful eyes of renowned coach Sanjay Bharadwaj, who also mentored the likes of Gautam Gambhir. Arya quickly stood out for his aggressive batting and raw power.

His domestic career gained momentum with a T20 debut for Delhi in 2021, followed by a List A debut in 2023 during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, it was in the inaugural Delhi Premier League (DPL) in 2024 where Arya became a household name. He smashed an unbeaten 107 off 55 balls and later lit up the tournament with a staggering 120 off 50 balls, which included six sixes in a single over.

Though he missed out on a spot in the India U-19 World Cup squad, Arya represented India 'A' Under-19 in a quadrangular series. After going unsold in the 2024 IPL auction, destiny knocked again when Punjab Kings secured him for ₹3.8 crore in 2025. Their coach, Ricky Ponting, spotted Arya's "out-and-out clean ball-striking talent" and backed him to make a serious impact—and Arya delivered.

Beyond the boundary, Arya is known for his affable nature and quirky sense of humour. A fan of Friends, his Instagram bio features Joey Tribbiani's iconic catchphrase: "How you doin'?" Off the field, he enjoys travelling, with his trip to Dharamsala becoming a fan-favourite series of posts.
