Mohammedan Sporting Club skipper Towhid Hridoy was handed a one-match suspension for his heated exchange with on-field umpires Tanvir Ahmed and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat in a Dhaka Premier League fixture against Abahani at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday. 

The incident took place in the seventh over of the second innings when Mohammedan pacer Ebadot Hossain had his delivery hit Abahani's Mohammad Mithun on the pads. Ebadot appealed with conviction but Tanvir's finger did not go up. This created a commotion between the Mohammedan players and the umpires, with Hridoy and Ebadot leading the altercation. 

Replays later showed that the impact of the ball was outside and Tanvir's decision of not out was indeed correct. 

The suspension means Hridoy will miss Mohammedan's first Super League fixture. The Black and Whites are yet to announce a captain for that fixture.

"I can't explain everything that happened. But a lot of things happened in the heat of the moment. They also make mistakes, but what I think is that they can make mistakes but I think that mistakes should be admitted, if I make a mistake, I will also admit it. But if you don't admit the mistake and say that it is not a mistake, then I won't have it. We respect the three international umpires. We are also international cricketers. In such a match, one or two decisions can make a big difference," Hridoy said after the match.
