The Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) and the Dhaka Premier League's (DPL) Technical Committee launched an investigation into the alleged irregularities associated with a DPL match between Gulshan Cricket Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club.

In a press release on Thursday, the BCB said that it has taken note of the concerns surrounding a DPL 2024-25 match between Gulshan and Shinepukur, held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.

"The BCB wishes to reiterate its firm commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and maintaining the highest ethical standards in cricket. The Board has a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of corruption or misconduct that may compromise the spirit of the sport," the press release said.

"The BCB remains committed to ensuring fairness and discipline in all cricketing activities under its jurisdiction and will take the necessary actions based on the findings of the investigation," it added.

The match between Gulshan and Shinepukur on Wednesday came into the limelight for the wrong reasons.

Suggestions of match-fixing followed after videos of the manner of Shinepukur batter Minhajul Abedin's dismissal made the rounds on social media.

The batter went down the crease to Gulshan's Naeem Islam, and having missed the delivery, got the chance to place his bat as the wicket-keeper failed to take off the bails in his first attempt.

The batter appeared to be in slow motion, inches away from the crease, but somehow not placing his bat in, as the wicketkeeper finally dislodged the bails.

Earlier, there was also the incident of how Shinepukur's Rahim Ahmed was stumped in the 36th over. He came down the track, got nowhere near the line of the ball, only to see the ball drift away back to the keeper. It seemed as if Rahim never even intended to make contact with the ball.

Former Bangladesh players such as Shamsur Rahman, Rajin Saleh, Shahriar Nafees, and Imrul Kayes found the incidents a 'shame' for Bangladesh cricket as they immediately reacted to the matters through social media.
