ACC asks BCB for information on Papon's tenure

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sent a letter to the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Monday, asking for 26 key documents to be provided within the next seven working days.

The ACC officials had visited BCB offices again yesterday and asked for records to look into alleged corruption of former BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon.

Documents related to the recruitment of consultants for construction of Purbachal Stadium, audit reports during Nazmul's tenure, income from profit-sharing of ICC and ACC (Asian Cricket Council) and costs of running Bangladesh Premier League were among the key documents sought.

The letter also asked for records on the expenses of recruiting foreign coaches and the process of how these coaches were recruited. The investigation would also be looking at money spent in 'Cricket Celebrates Mujib-100' project and arrangement of AR Rahman's concert during Nazmul's tenure.

Expense records related to Nazmul's use of helicopters to watch matches while he was in charge of the board has also been sought. The list of officials and employees who have travelled abroad with BCB funding were asked for along with information on departmental investigations into corruption that took place during the former BCB president's tenure.
