Tigers smell victory

Bangladesh is eyeing their maiden Test series win in Zimbabwe after the fourth day of the one-off Test at the Harare Sports Club Ground yesterday. The visitors posted a huge target of 447, having declared their second innings on 284 for 1 by riding on magnificent centuries from Shadman Islam and Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Zimbabwe ended the fourth day on 140 for 3, needing another 337 runs to complete the highest ever successful chase in the final three sessions of the Test match.
Bangladesh spinners on the other hand, will be looking to put pressure on the hosts by replicating the same performance of the first innings to seal the victory.
Tigers struck early with the ball when Milton Shumba poked and edged Taskin Ahmed's delivery to Yasir Ali at second slip as the substitute fielder grabbed a total of six catches in the game.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz later, grabbed an easy return catch to dismiss skipper Brendan Taylor on 92 as Bangladesh also struck late in the day with Shakib Al Hasan getting the better of Takudzwanashe Kaitano, the highest scorer of the first innings for Zimbabwe, trapping him leg before on seven. Earlier, the first and second sessions of the fourth day saw the unbeaten left-handers wreak havoc with Najmul finishing on 117 while Shadman registered his maiden Test hundred and ended up on a career-best 115.
Batting at number three, Najmul averaged almost a run-a-ball for his score which included five fours and six sixes while Shadman was more cautious, facing 196 deliveries to compile his finest Test innings, laced with nine fours.
Shadman was the first to reach a century with a flick to deep square leg and twenty two balls later, Najmul reached the same landmark for the second time in his Test career, by striking a full toss to long-on.
Zimbabwe deployed six bowlers led by fast medium pair Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava, and their sole success came when the latter had Saif Hassan (43) caught at gully in the hands of debutant Dion Myers.
