Soumya and Taskin’s mementos draw TK 8.5 lakh at auction

Soumya Sarkar's bat and Taskin Ahmed's ball were auctioned off at a price of 8.5 lakh Taka yesterday during a live show at the Auction 4 Action' page. The money will be used to help fund a foundation working to help the needy in these times of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Soumya auctioned the bat he had used to hit Bangladesh's fastest-ever Test ton during the Tigers' tour of New Zealand last year. Taskin auctioned the ball that got him a hattrick against Sri Lanka.
A person from Saudi Arab and another from Kuwait placed high bids for the mementos but host of the live show announced that a local bank came out on top in the end with a bid of four-and-a-half lakh Taka for the bat and four lakh for the ball. The host declared that the local bank expressed wish to remain anonymous for the time being.
Both Soumya and Taskin were present in the live show. Soumya said that the main factor of these auctions were to inspire people to help out in anyway they can. "We are doing this for a good cause and if it brings relief to people than we will be satisfied. If people come forward then this crisis can be deterred."
There were two successful bids for Taskin Ahmed's cricket ball and Soumya Sarker's cricket bat. After completing the necessary formalities, IPDC was announced as the winning bidder of Soumya Sarker's cricket bat while a private anonymous bidder won Taskin Ahmed's cricket ball.
"Thanks to everyone who have made bids. I hope that the funds can help people in need," Taskin said.
