Shykat, Sohan knocks trump Mithun’s 67

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi thrashed Prime Bank by seven wickets in the Super League match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.

Shykat Ali, Imrul Kayes and Nurul Hasan were the protagonist for Sheikh Jamal chasing down a strong target of 165 set by Prime Bank. After Mohammad Ashraful (5 off 4) departed in the second over to Shoriful Islam, Shykat took charge, hitting a stormy 36-ball 60, laced with six fours and three sixes. He, along with Imrul (44 off 40), strung together a 100-run partnership for the second wicket off 71 deliveries before Shykat fell to Rubel Hossain. Imrul departed soon after but Nurul thrashed the Prime Bank bowlers during a 17-ball 44, laced with two fours and four sixes as Sheikh Jamal reached the target with seven wickets and 11 deliveries to spare.

Earlier, Mohammad Mithun's breezy 42-ball 67, accompanied by Raqibul Hasan's 19-ball 34, helped Prime Bank to 164 for 3 in 20 overs after being sent in to bat.

The other Super League game in the morning at Mirpur could not be completed due to rain. Gazi Group had managed 73 for 4 in 12 overs before the match was determined as no result and will be played on the Reserve Day. The relegation league match between Legends of Rupganj and Partex Sporting Club was washed out without a ball being bowled at BKSP.

Mohammedan Sporting and Abahani Limited are playing the third Super League fixture of the day at Sher-e-Bangla with Mohammedan opting to field in the evening game.
