Shakib throws down stumps in fit of anger

Mohammedan vs Abahani match in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League heated up as Shakib Al Hasan enraged, once kicking the stumps down before uprooting them shortly after as umpire called for covers to be brought on due to rain. The players went off after rain halted proceedings with Abahani at 31 for three in 5.5 overs.
Ace all-rounder and Mohammedan skipper Shakib Al Hasan was furious when umpire did not give Abahani Limited's Mushfiqur Rahim out leg-before the previous over and proceeded to kick the stumps at the bowler's end while fuming at the umpire.
The match between Abahani and Mohammedan was not as high-voltage as it used to be during domestic cricket's golden years but Shakib's reaction certainly brought some electricity as Mohammedan pushed Abahani towards the ropes with early wickets after posting 145 for six.

Shuvagata struck thrice as Abahani lost three wickets for nine runs in 2.3 overs. Mushfiqur and Najumul Hossain Shanto were at the crease and in his very first over, Shakib lost his cool. Mushfiqur hit a four and six off Shakib to give Abahani some respite but the last ball of the over from Shakib pitched on off stump and then went with the arm before wrapping the batsman's pads. Shakib went up in appeal but was unable to restrain himself as he went at the umpire and kicked at the stumps.

The Sher-e-Bangla was cooling down with dark clouds hovering over the grounds but as soon as umpire asked the covers to be brought on, Shakib came in and threw down the stumps before leaving towards the dressing room. He was however not done.

There was some sort of exchange of words with Abahani staff with their coach Khaled Mahmud in particular having to be restrained while Shakib too was seen being taken away from the boundary and to the dressing room while he was moving towards the Abahani staff.
