Rupganj survive; Old DOHS and Partex relegated

An all-round performance from skipper Naeem Islam helped Legends of Rupganj beat Old DOHS Sports Club convincingly by six wickets via D/L method in their relegation league game of the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today. The win also ensured Rupganj's stay in the upcoming season of the Premier League.
Rupganj, who had seven points from three wins in 11 games in the first leg of the tournament, moved to the top of the relegation league table with nine points from 12 outings.
Meanwhile, Old DOHS and Partex Sporting Club have been relegated from the league. Old DOHS ended their campaign second in the relegation league table with eight points in 13 games while Partex, who are sulking at the bottom of the table with just one point from 12 matches, had already been relegated and will be playing their final game of the campaign against Rupganj at BKSP 3 tomorrow. The game, however, will have no impact on the league standings.
In today's game, Naeem struck twice in an over and finished with economical figures of two for 12 in his two overs to help restrict Old DOHS to 117 for six before scoring a quick-fire unbeaten 27 to help Rupganj chase down the revised target of 122 with five balls to spare in a game that was reduced to 18-over-a-side after rain interrupted proceedings a multiple times.
Earlier, Old DOHS opener Anisul Islam Emon scored a fifty but that could not help his side pile up a decent total.
This fixture between Rupganj and Old DOHS, originally scheduled to be held at BKSP 3 on June 21, was rescheduled to Mirpur on a reserve day by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM), who are regulating the tournament, at the request of Rupganj.
