Rupganj request ICC panel umpires in relegation match

Legends of Rupganj, who are third from bottom at the end of the first phase of The Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League and will have to play the relegation league, have requested that ICC panel umpires and review system be used for their match against OLD DOHS on 21st June. They also requested that the match be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
Matches surrounding OLD DOHS have been curious this season with questions being raised regarding suspect batting approach. During their match against Abahani Limited at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, the batting display to chase down 135 runs in 20 overs was uneventful but curiously, they fell 22 runs short of the target despite having seven wickets in hand.
In the match against Brothers Union at BKSP, eyebrows were raised further when OLD DOHS batsman Pritom Kumar left the last delivery alone while needing three for the win. With eight wickets in hand, OLD DOHS should have reached the target comfortably even before that incredible leave on the last ball.
Rupganj's request suggest they maybe dreading a certain kind of bias in the relegation league. Thus, they have requested for certain arrangements for the last match of the relegation league -- set to be played from June 19th till 21st. Mohammedan Sporting's Shakib Al Hasan too had been angered by certain decisions during a match against Abahani this season and had reacted by kicking the stumps before uprooting them. The act would lead to a three-match ban for Shakib. BCB president Nazmul Hassan said the matter of biased umpiring and fixing in the DPDL would be investigated but later the BCB president revealed that none of the clubs formally lodged complaints regarding umpiring decisions or other allegations.
"Every year, Legends of Rupganj spends a considerable amount of money to building a successful team. With that consistency, last year we were equal on points with the eventual champions and became runners-up following net-run-rate method.
"Even as its disappointing but truthfully, despite creating a strong team this year, we have to play the relegation league due to disappointing performances.
"We humbly request that since there is no match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on 21/06/2021, and since the relegation match between Legends of Rupganj and OLD DOHS has special significance, that the match be played at the Sher-e-Bangla with ICC panel umpires, with third-umpire review system along with match referees," Rupganj wrote in a letter to CCDM chairman Kazi Inam.
