Akbar to auction WC jersey and gloves

World Cup winning Bangladesh Under-19 captain Akbar Ali followed in on the footsteps of seniors like Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan as the wicketkeeper batsman announced through a Facebook post that he will be auctioning his World Cup jersey and gloves to help raise fund for battling coronavirus crisis.
"Undoubtedly, winning the Under-19 is my greatest achievement till date. I am going to auction two memorials of that achievement (1. The final match jersey, 2. And the batting gloves I used in the final) to help fight this coronavirus crisis. The fund raised from the auction will be used to help the affected ones due to this pandemic," read Akbar's Facebook post.
Earlier, players like Mushfiqur and Shakib also auctioned their favourite bats. While Mushfiqur auctioned his bat with which he hit the nation's first Test double ton against Sri Lanka in 2013, premier all-rounder Shakib had auctioned his bat that he used during his impressive campaign at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England.
The Akbar-led Bangladesh Under-19 side brought home the country's first ever world cup by defeating their Indian counterparts in the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Potchefstroom in February this year.
