This year, veteran film personality Syed Hasan Imam has been awarded with the Standard Chartered-The Daily Star Celebrating Life 2018 'Lifetime Achievement Award' for his immense contributions to the growth of our film industry. The beloved actor has been an integral part of our film industry since the beginning. He has been as successful behind the camera as onscreen, although we know very little about his genius behind the lens. He has directed and produced numerous successful movies.

Apart from his involvement in films, Syed Hasan Imam has also been politically active. In the prime of his youth, he was involved in the protests against the British; he had also been subjected to brutal assaults by the British and the Pakistani police. But, even after all this he took to the streets whenever any injustice befell. Syed Hasan Imam is always active against injustice and no matter how busy his schedule is, he always finds time to raise his voice to protest wrongdoings.  This is what makes him so great.  He had to endure a lot to become who he is today. He went to jail many times; he faced torture and had to stay away from his family for long periods of time. He had also received multiple death threats. But he never backed down. No matter how difficult the circumstances are, there is always a smile on his face – a pure and innocent smile.

Syed Hasan Imam is also an avid reader. He is a fan of Rabindranath Tagore. He loves reading the works of Tagore and Porichoy is one of his favourite poems. Syed Hasan Imam is an icon of bravery, passion and chivalry. He is an inspiration for everyone. In these trying times of our film industry, we look to him for guidance.
