Popular model and TV actor, Doyel has recently starred in her debut film, ‘Alpha’. In a candid interview with Star Showbiz, the rising star shares her views on fashion.

What is your style mantra?

I don’t have a specific style mantra. I mostly wear clothes that make me look good, rather than following the trends. I might even go for an odd combination, like that of a saree and sneakers, if I feel it looks flattering.

Who is your favourite style icon in Bangladesh?

One of my favourite style icons is undoubtedly Bibi Russell, even though I haven’t worked with her yet. I am also a very big fan of Azra Mahbub.

Who are your favourite style icons in

Hollywood and Bollywood?

I admire quite a few international celebrities, but it’s difficult to follow their style sometimes since they do not go well with our country’s weather or our lifestyles. It’s easier to follow and attempt the looks of Bangladeshi celebrities, as they are more likely to look flattering on me.

Who is your favourite fashion designer?

I like all kinds of outfits, be it traditional, western or a fusion, but I am not a very big fan of international brands or any specific designer. I tend to buy clothes that catch my eye, even if the outfit is very common.

What is your regular everyday wear like?

Bangladesh’s weather has become unpredictable recently, so, my regular wear varies with it. However, I have started wearing cotton clothes, even when it comes to a saree, since other variety of fabrics usually feel uncomfortable. If I have to mention a specific type of outfit, I would say I am equally comfortable when I’m wearing a saree and when I am wearing a pair of jeans with a top.

What is your general party wear like?

I usually opt for a saree when I attend parties, with colourful and unique blouses. I also like it as I can go for a heavy made up look when I’m wearing one.

What are your favourite accessories?

I love wearing antique jewellery. However, I don’t wear a few different kinds at once. I might opt for a necklace or a few bangles to complete my outfit, but never together.

What is a must-have in your wardrobe?

I always carry a pair of flip-flops with me everywhere as they are very comfortable.

What fashion trend do you dislike?

I usually find it unattractive when someone matches the colour of their outfit with their accessories, such as shoes and handbags, as it makes the outfit look less casual.

What fashion trend would you say is your favourite?

Any trend that is unique but comfortable at the same time is my favourite.

What would be a fashion message you would like to give to the readers?

I would like to request everyone to be less focused on makeup products, and rather focus more on enhancing the beauty they were born with. This way, everyone can be beautiful in their own, unique way.
