The biggest english carnival in the country

Notre Dame English Club organised the 4th National English Carnival (NEC) from February 1 to 3, 2018.

The Notre Dame College campus was overflowing with thousands of students from around 400 Institutions. The number of participants in this carnival broke all previous records of any programme arranged by NDEC. The 4th NEC was by far the biggest carnival in recent years. The opening ceremony started at 1 pm with a jam-packed auditorium. The Principal of Notre Dame College, Dr. Fr. Hemanto Pius Rozario, CSC was the convener of this grand event. Brian O'Conchubhair, Professor, Center for the Research of Language and Culture, University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA was the chief guest of the opening ceremony.

After the inauguration, the real festivities began. The participants battled it out in 16 fascinating events throughout the next three days. These three days showcased the rich and diverse dimensions one can reach by the proper use of English language. Fr. Patrick D Gaffney, CSC, Vice Chancellor, Notre Dame University, Dhaka was the chief guest of the closing ceremony. Tajdin Hassan, Head of Marketing, The Daily Star was a special guest.

The Daily Star was the empowerment partner while SHOUT was the Youth Engagement Partner of the event.
