Borrowing Colours from Fiction

Josephite Drama Group (JDG) of St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, Dhaka arranged "Drama & Cosplay Festival", powered by Pran Lacchi from September 22 to 23, 2016 first time in high school level to celebrate the festivity and creativity that revolves around and within us. Over 2500 participants from more than 60 institutions came together from all over the country to participate in 13 events, making this festival a successful one.
The two-day event started as special guest Professor Matin Rahman inaugurated the ceremony with his welcome speech. Under the direct guidance of the Principal of the institution, Brother Robi Purification CSC and Chief Moderator of the club Nirmal Sarkar, the event started at 2 PM. From contemporary pop to pure classical music, the whole campus was filled with euphoric melodies produced during the instrumental music and dance competitions. The cinematography, framing and artistic abilities of the participants showcased in the short filmmaking, photography and art competitions were appreciated by the judges Unmesh Dhar and Shahana Nasrin.
The festivity of the first day continued and took a more competitive form in the solo and group drama competition and Olympiad in the second day. While endeavours were being made in the drama competition to bring fictitious characters into reality, the cosplayers on the other part of the campus were preparing to turn the whole premises into a wonder world of anime and cartoon characters. At last, the much awaited cosplay unravelled itself with the celebrated presence of YouTube sensations Gaan Friendz and ZakiLOVE. The Principal exclaimed, "I haven't seen the field of my institution this colourful ever before!"
The event came to an end with the prize giving ceremony and a cultural show by the choir of Ibrahim Shafin and Biddut Sarkar, followed by the heart-wrenching performance of Tahsan Khan who also shared memories of his time as a student of this institution.
Under the direction of the President Ahnaf Tazwar, Student Advisor Ibrahim Shafin and Vice President Rakesh Bhowmick, the Executive Committee members controlled the crowd efficiently. Blessings from chief guest Mamunur Rashid, support from film star Ananta Jalil and Youth Engagement Partnership by SHOUT has helped the 12 year-old club successfully host one of the biggest drama and cosplay festivals in the country.
