Shahidul new IGP, Benazir Rab chief

Additional Inspector General of Police (Admin) AKM Shahidul Hoque has been appointed as new chief of police.
He will replace current IGP Hassan Mahmood Khandker.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Benazir Ahmed has been made as director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab). He will replace incumbent Rab chief Mukhleshur Rahman.
Besides, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) (Highway) Asaduzzman Miah has been appointed as DMP commissioner.
Additional IGP Mukhleshur Rahman, chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been transferred to the Police Headquarters.
The home ministry today issued a circular in this regard which will take effect on Wednesday afternoon.

The newly appointed IGP joined the police department in 1986 as an assistant superintendent of police after completing his Master’s in social welfare from the University of Dhaka.
He held many important posts in the department including DMP commissioner, DIG Chittagong, Rajshahi ranges and police headquarters.
