Ctg BCL leader Rony’s bail extended for 3 months

The High Court today extended for three months its bail order for Chittagong Chhatra League leader Nurul Azim Rony in an arms case.
The HC bench of Justice Kamrul Islam Siddiqui and Justice Amir Hossain passed the order following a petition filed by Rony today seeking extension of the bail order.
Following the HC order, there is no legal bar for Rony to get released from jail, SM Rezaul Karim, lawyer for Rony, told The Daily Star.
The HC on June 13 granted bail to Rony for six months or till submission of police report to the lower court in the case, whichever is earlier. But six days later, police submitted the probe report against Rony to a Chittagong court and therefore, his bail order has been cancelled, lawyer Karim added.
On May 7, a mobile court jailed BCL general secretary of Chittagong city Rony for two years for carrying an illegal firearm and vote rigging during Union Parishad election in Chittagong's Hathazari upazila in Chittagong.
