Int’l webinar series on ‘Doing English Studies Postcolonially’ being held by University of Asia Pacific

With a motto of embracing the "new normal" that academia is experiencing amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Department of English at University of Asia Pacific (UAP) has recently inaugurated an international webinar series on "Doing English Studies Postcolonially",
The monthlong webinar series began on September 29 and will continue till October 31.
UAP is dedicated to promoting the webinar series as a platform which academics, scholars and students can share their knowledge and generate ideas about postcolonial perspectives in English studies in our time, redefining the notions of postcoloniality, discussing recent theoretical developments in the area and applying them in pedagogical issues and literary texts in the era of 'globalisation'.
This event will bring together international scholars from Bangladesh and India to discuss their insights and researches on the current scenario of postcoloniality in English studies and academia.
The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony was Professor Dr Fakrul Alam, UGC professor, Department of English at the University of Dhaka, while the special guest of the inaugural ceremony was Air Cdre Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury (Retd), acting vice chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific.
The first webinar of the series was titled "Revisiting Mythological Plays: A Postcolonial Enquiry'' with Professor Dr Prakash Balikai from the Central University of Karnataka, India, as speaker of the session.
The next session of the series titled, "Translating the Local into Global in the Postcolonial Indian English Fiction" was held yesterday. Professor Dr GK Badiger from Karnataka, India was the speaker of the webinar.
The series is supposed to come to an end on October 31, 2020 with its last session having Prof Dr Fakrul Alam as the speaker.
Ismat Zarin, assistant professor of English department at UAP, is the convener of the webinar series.
