Protests against new JCD committee

Deprived of any posts in the newly-announced central committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) blasted crude bombs in front of BNP headquarters at Nayapaltan in Dhaka this afternoon.
Police arrested three of the protesters from the spot.
Last night, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia approved a 201-member partial committee of the party’s youth wing JCD with Rajib Ahsan as president and Akramul Hasan the general secretary.
Among the other office-bearers were Mamunur Rashid Mamun, senior vice-president; Asaduzzaman Asad, first joint secretary; Ishaq Sarker, organising secretary; Mahmudul Islam Himel, publicity secretary; Abdus Sattar Patwari, office secretary; and Fahmida Majid Usha, female student secretary.
The section of the JCD, student wing of BNP, activists and supporters who failed to get a place in the newly formed committee brought out a procession at the place around 4:30pm and blasted at least seven crude bombs there, sources said.
“Three people were detained from the spot. They are being quizzed on their involvement in the blasts,” Morshed Alam, officer-in-charge of Paltan Police Station told The Daily Star.
“If found innocent, they will be released,” he added.
"The people who went on a procession this afternoon protesting the JCD new committee in front of our party's central office don’t belong to BNP as well as the student body. Those are government's agents," Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, student affairs secretary of BNP told The Daily Star Online
"The government has already cut lose its agents to foil our efforts to wage a tough movement against it," Annie, also a former president of the JCD, added.
