The government has appointed Bridge Division Secretary Md Abdul Karim as principal secretary to the prime minister.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) confirmed the appointment to The Daily Star last night. This vital post at the PMO had been lying vacant since the Awami League government assumed office.
Abdul Karim was the secretary of the home ministry during the immediate past caretaker government.
The Awami League government transferred him to the Bridge Division on March 8.
Earlier, he also served as secretary to the commerce ministry and fisheries and livestock ministry and as the chairman of the National Revenue Board.
