3 dead in motorcycle accidents in Dinajpur, Jhenaidah

Three people were killed and several others injured in two separate road accidents in Dinajpur and Jhenaidah.
In Dinajpur, a man was killed and his younger brother critically injured when a sand-laden tractor rammed into their motorcycle on the Dinajpur-Rangpur highway in Chirirbandar upazila this morning.
The accident took place around 11:00am in front of a filling station near Champatoli Bazar.
The deceased has been identified as Refayet Haque Bandhon, 35, from Satnala village in Chirirbandar. His younger brother, Plabon, 32, has been severely injured.
According to locals, the two brothers were heading towards Saidpur on their motorcycle when a speeding tractor from the opposite direction lost control and hit them head-on. Bandhon died on the spot. The tractor driver fled the scene.
Md Omar Faruq, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dashmile Highway Police Station, confirmed the incident. He said the body was handed over to the victim's family, and the tractor has been seized. Legal procedures are ongoing, and a case will be filed in consultation with the family, the OC added.
Meanwhile, in Jhenaidah, two young men were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between two speeding motorcycles in Maheshpur upazila yesterday.
The accident occurred at Krishnachandrapur on Kaliganj-Jibannagar Road around 8:30pm.
The deceased have been identified as Bidhan Kumar Roy, 17, and Sudeb Roy, 18. Both were from Krishnachandrapur village.
Faruk Hossain, an eyewitness, said the two motorcycles collided head-on on the main road. Subsequently, a speeding truck hit them afterwards.
The injured were first taken to Kotchandpur Upazila Health Centre, then transferred to Jashore General Hospital. Doctors said the condition of two of them is critical.
OC Faiz Uddin Mridha of Maheshpur Police Station confirmed the incident. He stated that the motorcycles were being driven recklessly, and immediately after the accident, a truck hit them, killing two on the spot and seriously injuring four youths.
The bodies were recovered and sent to Jhenaidah General Hospital morgue for an autopsy at 11:00pm yesterday. Efforts are ongoing to seize the truck involved.
