Stocks fall for third consecutive day

The stock market extended its losing streak for the third straight session today, with the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) edging down amid mixed performance across major indices.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, slipped 10.87 points, or 0.20 percent, to close at 5,185.82.
However, the Shariah-based DSES index managed to post a marginal gain of 0.09 percent, finishing at 1,167.10.
The DS30, comprising blue-chip stocks, shed 0.30 percent, to settle at 1,924.88.
Of the securities traded, 149 advanced, 194 declined, and 54 remained unchanged.
Turnover rose 3 percent from the previous session to Tk 483.61 crore, reflecting a slight improvement in investor participation.
