Bangladesh batter Afif Hossain became the seventh batter for his country to reach one thousand T20I runs in career after Bangladesh chose to bat first against Pakistan in the two sides' final Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup in Adelaide today.

Afif's 24 off 20 balls, laced with three fours, contributed in giving the Bangladesh bowlers something to defend (128) in the virtual quarterfinal match of the mega event as the winner of the ongoing game -- following South Africa's shocking defeat against the Netherlands earlier in the day -- are set to book their ticket for the last-four.

The 23-year-old, who made his international debut in 2018 in the format, have now tallied 1003 runs in 60 matches, with three fifties and an average and strike-rate of around 21 and 121, respectively.

Having reached the landmark, Afif joins the list of Bangladesh batters: Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, and Soumya Sarkar.
