Ekushey Padak Awardee Syed Hasan Imam was shocked by the news of noted director Azizur Rahman's demise. He reminisced about his bond with the director, in a chat with The Daily Star.

"I have worked with Aziz in 10 to 12 films," says the cultural personality. "I knew him since he was quite young. Aziz, director and lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar, and actor Uzzal used to stay in the same house."

Syed Hasan Imam was featured in many of Azizur Rahman's films, including "Chhutir Ghonta", "Oshikkhito", and "Porichoy" among others.

"He was really down to earth and we shared a very strong bond. Our families were well acquainted. When he got married, his wife would come to Laila and ask for cooking tips, and all other suggestions required for a newly built house," shares Hasan Imam.

"He was a commercially successful filmmaker, and he was exceptionally good at his job." After they spent many years together, Azizur Rahman left for Canada and Syed Hasan Imam went to the USA. "For many years we didn't meet. We just spoke over the phone, and now he has left for eternity," says the actor. "May he rest in peace."
