Two fresh cases have been filed against former BNP minister Aminul Haque, ex-deputy minister Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu and ex-lawmaker Nadim Mostafa for extortion and abetting militancy.
Khabir Ali of Kathalbari and Manjur Rahman of Daspara village in Bagmara upazila filed the cases with the Third Magistrate's Court separately on Sunday.
First Class Magistrate Julia Moyeen directed Bagmara police to investigate the matters and take necessary steps.
Khabir Ali accused 39 people including Aminul and Dulu.
The other accused include Kacharikoalipara UP Chairman Ayenuddin, Bhawaniganj municipal Chairman Khoda Bux, BNP activists Abdur Razzak, Ashraful Islam, Shamsul Haque, Mozammel Haque, Saidur Rahman and Jamaat activists Nurul Islam, and Sahar Ali.
The plaintiff alleged that the accused demanded Tk 1 lakh from him on April 15, 2004. When he denied to meet their demand, they abducted him and tortured him at Hamirkutsa.
Meanwhile, Manjur sued 32 people including Dulu and Nadim. The other accused include Bhawaniganj BNP President Abdur Razzak and Secretary Ashraful Alam.
He alleged that the accused demanded Tk 3 lakh from him on April 22, 2004.
They abducted and tortured him at Hamirkutsa as he refused to oblige their demand for extortion money.
