Education Minister Dipu Moni today said there is no scope for further shortening syllabuses of this year's SSC and HSC exams.

"We have already shortened the syllabuses of SSC and HSC exams due to Covid-19. We will hold the exams after completing these shortened syllabuses," said Dipu Moni.

The minister was talking to reporters after she attended a medical and eye check-up camp as the chief guest at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the capital.

Dipu Moni also urged candidates of the exams to concentrate on preparation.

"We will not pay heed to any kind of movement for further shortening of syllabuses. So, students should concentrate on their studies," she added.

This year's SSC and its equivalent examinations will begin on November 14 while HSC and equivalent exams on December 2.

SSC exams will conclude on November 23 and HSC on December 30.

The examinees will have to take the tests only in three optional subjects with a shortened syllabus and the exams will carry fewer marks.

They will not have to sit for tests in compulsory subjects like Bangla, English and Mathematics.

Usually the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations take place in February and the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent tests in April.

But the Covid-19 pandemic has delayed exams this year.
