Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan suffered a groin injury during the third ODI against the West Indies at Chattogram today. Shakib was unable to take the field following the injury and will be kept under observation to determine the extent of the injury.

The incident took place when Shakib came in to bowl the fifth delivery of the 30th over. Having bowled the delivery, he collapsed in pain. The physio attended to the ace all-rounder and after Shakib got up, he could not go through any lunges or jogs and left the field.

Physio Monjurul Hossain Chowdhury later confirmed that Shakib had suffered a groin injury.

"Shakib won't be able to take the field today. He suffered a groin injury. He is now under observation. And we will decide for how long he needs to be under observation after the game when we reach the hotel. And as there is still a long time for the Test series, we cannot say anything for sure yet. But initially we do not think it is anything serious." BCB physician Monjurul Hossain Chowdhury told the media.

The first Test will begin at Chattogram on February third. Shakib had made a return to international cricket through the West Indies ODIs after his ban last year. The ace all-rounder had already contributed with a few notable performances on his return and the Tigers will be hoping that he can shake off his injury before the Test series.
