Two High Court judges have been promoted to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.

The law ministry issued a gazette notification on Wednesday to this effect.

The judges are Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Obaidul Hassan.

President Md Abdul Hamid made the appointments of the two judges as per article 95 (1) of the constitution.

The appointment will come into effect after the two judges take their oaths, according to the notification.

With the promotion of the two judges, the number of Appellate Division judges now stands at eight.
