Woman dies as rooftop water tank collapses

A woman was killed after a water tank on the rooftop of a nearby building collapsed and fell on her tin-shed house in Dhaka's Kamalapur area last night.

The victim was identified as Rima Akter 42, a mother of three children.

Her sister-in-law Syeda Nasim Ara said Rima was staying at her father's house at Uttar Kamalapur area when the accident took place around 8:00pm.

A concrete water tank on the rooftop of a nearby six-storey building suddenly collapsed and fell on their house, leaving her critically injured.

She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead around 11:45pm, she said.

The body has been kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy, said Bachchu Mia, in-charge of police outpost at the hospital.
