A journalist of The Daily Star yesterday received a Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Best Reporting Award-2019.

The newspaper’s senior reporter Mohammad Al-Masum Molla was awarded for his outstanding report on ‘health and education’.

The report titled “Lab Tests on Milk: Everything same, only results vary” which explored the flaws of laboratory tests on milk, was published on September 5.

A total of 10 journalists received the award during a ceremony in DRU auditorium. Information Minister Hasan Mahmud handed over the awards to the winners, each receiving a certificate, crest and prize money of Tk 50,000.

The other award recipients (print and online category) are Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury of Jugantor, Shahed Shafique, of Bangla Tribune, Jashim Uddin Harun of The Financial Express, Ziadul Islam of Kaler Kantho, Tarek Mahmud of Prothom Alo and Tapan Das of Samakal.

Shafique Shahin of NTV, Adnan Khan of Ekattor TV and Morshed Hasib Hasan of Channel 24 got awards in the television category.

The ceremony was presided over by DRU President Illias Hossain, while former president and jury board chairman Shahjahan Sardar, Jatiya Press Club President Saiful Alam and DRU general secretary Kabir Ahmed Khan were also present.
