A teenage boy was stabbed to death by a gang of stalkers in the district.

The deceased was battery-run auto-rickshaw driver Julhus Mia, 18, son of Bajit Mia of Char Kalibari area in Sadar upazila.

Quoting family members, Khandaker Shaker Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said some local boys led by Tariqul, 18, stalked a girl on the day of Pahela Baishakh this year.

At this, Julhus protested the incident, triggering a feud.

As a sequel, the boys allegedly led by Tariqul locked in an altercation with Julhus on Saturday and at one stage, they stabbed him, said the OC.

Critically injured Julhus was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he died yesterday.

The victim's father lodged a case, accusing 12 people including Tariqul.

Police are raiding different areas to arrest the accused, said the police official.
