A master of a lighter vessel was killed after iron plates fell on him during unloading those from another ship in Chittagong port yesterday, said police.

The deceased is Md Shahin, 32, of Barguna district. He was the master of MV Tanvir Tawsif-2.

“The incident took place around 6:00am at the outer anchorage of the port. Shahin was declared dead at Chittagong Medical College Hospital,” said CMCH police outpost's Nayek Amir Hossain.
