A member of Kurigram Zila Parishad was killed in a road accident in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur yesterday noon.

The deceased is Sohrab Hossain Chand of Ulipur upazila. He was also the former Buraburi union parishad chairman, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.

Sohrab was travelling to Rangpur on his motorbike. As he reached Ghunti Bural bridge, an oncoming truck hit him, said OC Mamunur Rashid of Kaunia Police Station, quoting witnesses.

The body was handed over to the family members, he added.

Meanwhile, another biker was killed when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit his motorbike while overtaking on Gaibandha-Shaghata Road in the afternoon, reports our Gaibandha correspondent.

The deceased is Abdul Awal Khan, 50, of Katlamari village under Fulchhari upazila. Police arrested the driver of the auto-rickshaw.
