Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) yesterday started a two week crash programme to reduce the mosquito menace in its region.

As a part of the programme, DSCC will spray insecticide including both adulticide and larvacide to kill mosquitoes and destroy its larva, a DSCC official said.

The programme was inaugurated by DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon at Bakultola at Faculty of Fine Arts in Dhaka University.

During the ceremony, the mayor urged the city people to keep their houses and yards clean to resist mosquitoes and prevent diseases like dengue and Chikunguniya.  

Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) also launched a hotline yesterday to tackle the mosquito menace and provide mosquito control services to its dwellers.
