Detectives of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested three alleged muggers with firearms in their possession from Tigerpass area in the port city yesterday.

The arrestees are Md Selim, 40, Md Hedayet Ullah Sujon, 34, and Monsur Ali, 39.

A gun, two rounds of bullets and two machetes were recovered from their possession, police said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) (South) Mirja Sayem Mahmud said the trio was arrested over allegations of mugging a British citizen on February 21 in Khulshi.

The trio was following the British citizen before mugging, said police.
