Obituary

Abul Mayeen Choudhury, former inspector general of police (IGP) and a retired government secretary, passed away at a city hospital on Monday night. He was 81, said a press release yesterday.

He had been suffering from various medical complications.

He left behind his wife, a son, a daughter, and grandchildren.

Born on January 15, 1936, Mayeen joined the Police Service of Pakistan in 1964 and went on to become IGP of Bangladesh and retired as a secretary in 1994.

He will be buried at Banani Graveyard following a namaz-e-janaza at Rajarbagh Police Lines at 11:00am and at Banani (Old) DOHS Mosque after the Zohr prayers today.
