The rain throughout Bangladesh influenced by a low and peak monsoon will persist today before showing signs of improvement from tomorrow.

Met office says in its latest forecast, the low over West Bengal and adjoining area intensified into a well marked low and is hovering over the same area.

The climate is particularly rough in the coastal areas down south as a trough of the monsoon axis extends till the northern Bay of Bengal. Currently cautionary signal no. 3 is hoisted in the coasts.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s Meteorologist Shahinul Islam told The Daily Star the bout of rain is usual and is caused by the monsoon climate.

“Rain might continue throughout today. Tomorrow, the climate will hopefully start to improve,” he said when inquired about when the latest bout of incessant rain will end.

Until 6:00pm morning, the rainfall in Dhaka in the last 24 hours was recorded at 49 millimetres. Port city Chittagong suffered more with 223 millimetre rainfall.
