Vocational education has to be given priority to go forward, the minister said at a programme at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in the capital.

The Saic Institute of Management and Technology, a diploma polytechnic institution, organised the programme titled, “Job Placement Celebration-2017”, to celebrate their success on helping its students to get jobs after completion of their diploma degrees.

Nahid said the government held several meetings with Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), and sought proposals from the leaders of the organisations about their required manpower.

“We also told them that the government will bring necessary changes to the syllabus [of technical and vocational education] as per their recommendations,” Nahid said.

Nahid said that those who will obtain vocational education will not face unemployment problem.

At the programme, the institution signed a memorandum of understanding with 15 organisations who, according to the agreement, will hire manpower from the institution.
