Three people were killed and two others injured as a human hauler plunged into a roadside ditch at Monshar Tek in Patiya upazila of Chittagong early today.

Two of the deceased were identified as Abu Bakar, 50, and Subrata Talukder, 30.

Zillur Rahim, a sergeant at Patiya highway police camp, said the human-hauler went down the ditch after hitting a tree as the driver lost control over its steering around 12:30am, leaving the three dead on the spot and two others injured.

The injured people were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
