A Dhaka court today issued arrest warrant against 14 people including BNP Vice-chairman Selima Rahman in connection with an arson attack case filed last year.

The arrest warrant also includes Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas and Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel, personal assistant and press secretary to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia respectively.

After accepting the charges against 20 people including the 14, Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court of Dhaka passed the order.

The court directed officer-in-charge (OC) of Pallabi Police Station to submit a report on execution of the arrest warrant by November 2.

In the case, BNP leader Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia and four others are now on bail while BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi is in jail.

On February 2, 2015, a vehicle was set on fire in front of Appayan Community Centre in Pallabi of Mirpur during the BNP-led 20-party alliance enforced non-stop blockade.
