Experts yesterday suggested preparing digital contents and providing training to women involved in farming activities for enabling them to make use of technologies so that they can contribute to the country's advancement.

They were addressing a roundtable discussion held in the capital's Jatiya Press Club.

The discussion was jointly organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), Nagorik Sanghoti, Oxfam, and Monash University, Australia.

The country's advancement is not possible if the women farmers are denied access to information and communication technology (ICT), observed Mustafa Jabbar, president of BASIS.

Around 40 percent women are involved in agriculture and ICT can help them get necessary information, said Gul Hossain, former director of Brac.

The government, NGOs and private organisations took initiatives for the implementation of ICT in agricultural sector… but they did not work properly in many cases, said Priodrshini of Oxfam in her keynote speech.
