The authorities of Peace School and College in Barisal city yesterday closed the institution following directives from the Barisal Metropolitan Police, said an official of the school.

The institution started in Barisal city last year, and had 180 students, from playgroup to class V.

A guardian said, "In the middle of the academic year, it would be very difficult to find any other institution for admission of the children."

Prof Syed Moajjem Hossain, a former additional education secretary, resigned as principal of the school last month after the controversy arose.
