With numerous TV Channels, it becomes hard to concentrate on just one channel. With frequent commercials in the in the middle of the shows, we tend to use remote buttons like fast-typing keyboards. Jumping through all the obstacles, Star Showbiz team followed special TV shows and found some worth mentioning. Zia Nazmul Islam was hooked to Channel i, Sadia Khalid followed NTV and SATV, Adnan Ahmed was glued to Boishakhi TV and Bangla Vision and Khan Nahida Moushumi kept an eye on RTV and ATN Bangla.

Boishaki Television
The Eid day natoks kicks off on Boishaki with 'Shaeher Golpo' written by Litu Sakhawar directed by Shokal Ahmed and starring Sajal, Bindu and Mim. The story is of a lonely boy named Rehan who has had some troubled past in regard to his financial condition. Rehan ends up falling for Mitu but there seems to be a hidden agenda behind her liaison with Rehan.
And the array of the dramas end with 'Boroi Prokithisto'; written by Bipasha Hayat and directed by Tauquir Ahmed, 'Boroi Prokithisto' stars Tauquir, Tarin and Nisha. We see a marriage in distraught; Rajib is the ultimate procrastinator who has no means of earning but still manages to fulfill all of his many habits and leisure's. Living off his father-in-law's wealth this is the premises for many comical dialogues and anecdotes.

Bangla Vision
'Abdul Jaliler Bidesh Jatra' is again from the duo Bipasha and Tauquir. It's a simple tale or rather our Bangladeshi dream of going abroad for greener pesters. We see Abdul Jalil getting bogged down with life in Bangladesh and deciding to flee for “Bidesh”. But on the verge of leaving he remembers all the positives within our nation and his patriotism rekindles. The story is depicted in a humorous manner and stylishly shot.
'Shongshar' a play by Humayun Ahmed; directed by Meher Afroz Shaon and Agun as the main protagonist. It's a story of an underprivileged family who lives on the sewage pipes of the city. The bread earner of the family is crippled and has no means of earning. It is a tale which reminds us of the importance of life and the value of relationships over materialistic belongings.

ATN Bangla
ATN Bangla has aired a number of musical programmes, telefilms, movies and dramas this Eid. Out of all the Eid dramas, Paachforon, Bhalo Theko Shobuj Pata, Priti O Shubhechha, Uttam-Suchitra, Khoj, Meyeti Ki Protishodhporayon and Porinamey Poriyon were some of the noteworthy ones.
Porinamey Porinoy was aired on the day of Eid; starring eminent actor Zahid Hasan along with Momm, Jenny, Arfan and Dilara Zaman this comedy-centric drama was directed by Hanif Sanket. Uttam-Suchitra was also telecasted on the same day on ATN Bangla. Written by Iraz Ahmed, the drama was directed by Chayanika Chowdhury. Starring Syed Hasan Imam, Opi Karim and Apurbo, Uttam-Shucitra tells a tale of the landlord Imam who is an avid fan of the evergreen movie couple. Apurbo, a potential tenant has to go through a serious of questions in regard with the movie duo to impress his landlord. With an unconventional storyline, this comedy is sure to tickle one’s funny bones.

RTV
RTV aired a number of dramas, musical shows and telefilms this Eid. Hridoy Gohiney, Otondrila, Shopnotori, Biborno Bhalobasha, Shourobh, Money is No Problem, Ar Matro Koyda Din, Bou Chor and Retired Chor are some of the significant ones aired this Eid.
Retired Chor was aired on the third day of Eid. Starring Zahid Hasain and Rumana, Retired Chor was written by Jakir Hossain and directed by Zahid Hasan himself. The comedy/drama unveils the story of a retired professional thief, played by Zahid Hasan. Other thieves in his vicinity secretly plot a conspiracy to have him framed. With humorous and witty dialogues, the actors and actresses deliver well, finding an amusing premise and propelling it into one hysterically funny situation after another.

NTV
One of the many highlights of NTV was the Eid Special Drama Serial Bhalobashar Golpo, written by Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury. Each episode had a different story. In one of the episodes, Na Purush, jointly directed by Redoan Rony and Atiq Zaman, the lead actor, Kazi Asif Rahman, plays an introverted geek who is too shy to express his emotions. His love interest, Mehazabein Chowdhury, doesn’t take much notice of him. A decade and a half later, they are married to different people, he rescues her from a riot and she tells her husband that a brave man saved her, not knowing that the brave man was the once shy boy who loved her. Redoan Rony told us about his experience of directing in both small and big screen- “It is my passion to make films and my profession to make dramas. I will continue to work in both mediums.”
Among other highlights were commercial free drama Satya Balok (starring Mosharrof Karim, Tisha, written and directed by Masud Sezan), drama Shomorpon (starring Mim and Niloy, written by Sanjay Kanto and directed by Imon Talukder), short film Fool (starring Mosharrof Karim and Simla, directed by Redwan Rony and screenplay by Ikbal Hossain Chowdhury), Telefilm Shondhikhon (starring Aupi Karim; directed by Niyaz Mahbub, written by Pantho Shahriar), drama serial Rashayonik Prem (starring Momo, Azizul Hakim, Tania Ahmed, directed by Salauddin Lovelu, Written by Masum Reza) and so on.

SATV
On Eid day SATV aired Bangladeshi Idol Extra with extra long interviews of the top contestants. and drama Promila Cricket Coaching starring Sajal and Sumaiya Shimu. Written and directed by Ferdous Hasan, this drama was flooded with conventional imperfections of contemporary TV dramas.
Among other attractions on SATV were telefilm Alien O Rumpar Golpo (starring Tahsan, Iresh Zaker, Tisha, written and directed by Mabroor Rashid), drama Bondhu Amra Tinjon (starring Mosharrof Karim, Ohona, directed by Shamim Zaman, written by Zakir Hossain) etc.

CHANNEL i
Channel i has always been entertaining viewers with exciting TV dramas and special programs during the three-day Eid programs. It gets difficult to watch TV programs with all the commercials. Wading through the advertisements some of the dramas were enjoyable to watch and others were mediocre. Here are three dramas I managed to watch:

SHORISHAY VUT

Cast – Sumaiya Shimu, Apurbo, Al Monsoor
A geeky stranger appears out of nowhere and makes a whole family falls in love with him. A simple rom-com, all the characters in the drama seems too familiar – it reminded many of Humayun Ahmed's characters. Apurbo doesn't fit well with the role he played. Shimu plays and other characters are too conventional. Other than few funny moments, the drama fails to strike any impact on the viewer – it probably wasn't made for that.

GRIHOBODHU SUNDORI

Writer – Manik Bondopoddhay
Cast – Shamol Moula, Sadika Shawrna, Shilpi, Israt Nishat,
Nasir Uddin Saimum
Other than great natural acting by all actors the whole drama is a collection of borrowed story and music. It is always difficult to book-to drama adaptation, especially if the story is by a prolific author like Manik Bondopoddhay. But Gias Uddin Selim's adaptation is near perfect. Sadika Shawrna's acting is remarkable along with supporting roles. Combination of serene rural Bangla background with western music didn't feel out-of-touch at all. It will ignite the viewer to read the original story.

EKJON KRITODASH

Cast – Moushumi Hamid, Tanvir Ahmed Faravi, Alvi,
A play by Humayun Ahmed without him directing it. It was by Shawon who tried to keep in par with Humayun's work. The characters were bluntly believable. Moushumi Hamid played a role that was on par with Humayun's female characters. Although fairly new as an actor, she gave a good performance. Another new face, Tanvir Ahmed, as a newcomer performed well as a depressed young man in lost love. Execution was at its best. The gloomy and depressed look and feel draws the viewer deep into the storyline. Overall, it is a Humayun Ahmed story with new but great casting.
